UW Anesthesiology provides access to a variety of simulation technologies to improve the quality of health care education and improve patient safety and outcomes.
ISIS is conveniently located on the first floor of the University of Washington Medical Center's Surgery Pavilion. All the following software is available for free to any student, resident, nurse, physician or other person with a University of Washington UW NetID. You can install and use the software on any Windows computer. Requires Microsoft .Net 2.0 and Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher.
ACLS Simulator 7 allows you to rehearse the latest AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support guidelines for 16 different megacode scenarios. You interpret the ECG, assess the patient, control the airway, breathing and circulation, defibrillate and administer cardiac medications. You must act quickly in this real-time simulation or the patient's condition will deteriorate!
The Anesthesia Simulator is a real-time graphical simulator that reproduces the anesthesia environment on a computer screen. The Anesthesia Simulator includes has 34 cases with general anesthetic problems, and cardiac, neuro, trauma, obstetric and pediatric scenarios with dozens of emergencies such as myocardial ischemia, anaphylaxis and malignant hyperthermia. The simulated patient responds to your management while an automated record-keeping system summarizes the case and an on-line consultant provides immediate management suggestions.
The Critical Care Simulator is a real-time graphical simulator that reproduces patient care in an Intensive Care Unit or Emergency Room. Five different critically ill patients are presented and you must manage the airway, ventilation, fluids and medications to improve the simulated patient's condition. Optimize the patient's hemodynamic state with vasoactive infusions as guided by invasive monitoring.
The Obstetrics Simulator is a real-time graphical simulator that reproduces obstetric care. Six different patients are presented and you must interpret the fetal heart rate monitor, manage the obstetric condition, fluids and medications to improve the simulated patient's condition.
PALS Simulator 7 is similar to the ACLS Simulator, but covers 12 scenarios specific to Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
The Pediatrics Simulator is a real-time graphical simulator that reproduces pediatric patient care. Six different patients are presented and you must manage the airway, ventilation, fluids and medications to improve the simulated patient's condition. Optimize the patient's hemodynamic state with invasive monitoring and vasoactive infusions. Many emergency situations will occur requiring rapid diagnosis and proper treatment to avoid disaster.
Rhythm Simulator 7 provides practice identifying ECG rhythms as they sweep across the screen. This program covers all the rhythms necessary for ACLS training.
The Sedation Simulator is the perfect program for radiologists, oral surgeons, endoscopists, surgeons and nurses to review the management of safe sedation. Administer a variety of sedative agents, monitor the simulated patient and manage a number of emergency scenarios. Thirty two different patients are presented and you must manage the airway, ventilation, fluids and medications.
